It’s 2012 but I’m sure you knew that. Most people are making new years resolutions. To lose weight; go to the gym; get their finances in order; stop smoking and so many other things. I don’t like new years resolutions because January 1st isn’t a magical day.
However I am big on goals. I have multiple lists and with goals for each week as a guide to focus on more than the basics each week. My yearly goals help to build on me.
I created goals for 2012 and then scrapped it because there will be some changes coming for the It All Changes household (nope…no babies). They were too specific for my ever changing life. Back to the drawing board creating goals that fit me instead of trying to fit them.
So I present goals for fitness, health, fun and function:
The 2012 It All Changes Goals
Fitness
Schedule fitness one month at a time – I’ll share my fitness goals soon. A regular fitness schedule will help me achieve them. I’m sticking to no more than one month in advance so I’ll be able to keep up if something changes.
Rewarding Consistency – In the past I had weight loss rewards…now I’m rewarding overall consistency. It’s a great motivation to keep up with something I love. A new outfit or nook book doesn’t hurt.
Change it up! – I fell into the trap of focusing on one fitness activity at a time…I have the injuries and time in PT to prove it. At the end of 2011 I rediscovered my love of randomness. I could tell you what I want to do but heck I’ll just show you as I change it up.![]()
Health
Create a health history. – My medical history is long and interesting. With multiple doctors, multiple medications and lots of moving I need a written copy of it all. It’s a pain to tell the whole bit over and over…trust me I know. Instead I’m going to write it down and save myself a future hassle.
Eat 90% of meals at home. – We have a bad habit of eating out and setting ridiculous restrictions trying to limit eating out. A percentage goal is more manageable. Ninety percent seems a nice balance (approximately once every 3 days or so).
Note: This does not include work meals!…we can’t control those.
Home grocery shopping. – I love new ingredients and my pantry shows it. Each meal should contain at least 2 ingredients from the pantry. Several meals weekly should be shopped entirely from the pantry. This means healthier food and a healthier budget. ![]()
Fun
Regular date night. – Date night doesn’t have to equal fancy. Date nights of the silly and quirky variety are more fun anyway. Game nights, movie nights and long walks on the beach in the woods.
Cheap or free fun. – In balance with date night friend and family time should be cheap or free. My town has a website, newsletter and little book for all the fun. And YouTube videos offer random fun ideas too.
Try something new daily. – This is “stolen” from my Lululemon bag. Taking the time to try something new daily does scare me. I have so much to do, I could get wrapped up in routine. Doing something, anything, new daily forces me to grow.
Function
Create Fun Savings Account – No specific savings goal…just savings. Perhaps a fun piggy bank
or a special savings account to create a cushion for
Four (4) Blog Projects – I have a long list of blog projects both big and small and it’s quite frankly overwhelming. I’m setting out to do 4 of them this year…more an likely larger ones. Any others will just be icing on the blog cake.
Organize it all. – Using a combination of this calendar I found a a few blogs and this book I will organize my sh-tuff (spelling is intentional
). I need to get rid of some crap, buy some things, sort some items and make sure they all fit in the totes we use for storage and moving.
