Workout Future

We the phone ran announcing my move for this summer I did two things: call Momma & look up a place to work out. I had my priorities.

My old gym was comfortable with a pool, weight room, lots of cardio equipment and the Zumba studio was just down the street. The co-op was a hop, skip and a jump down the road to grab good food for snacks and dinner. The next thing I looked up was a good grocery store to balance out all I needed to set a routine, continue improving my health and ease stress when I felt like I was losing my mind.

When moving to Almost Canada I know everything was going to be different and not just because of the move. At the top of my moving to-do list was finding a workout plans. The local traditional gym has strange hours. They barely fit my schedule and definitely not for the cost each month. I needed money to live and not just living to workout. The nearest YMCA is over an hour away and also the size of a postage stamp. It was packed the day I went to visit right before July 4th. And here there is no dedicated Zumba studio or regular classes. I would have to cherry pick classes that fit my schedule from different instructors.

I made a plan to try the local gym no matter how insane the hours and attempt some local instructors. It was a bit rockier than I’d hoped with all the planning.

I grabbed the only paper calendar unpacked pushed forward with more instructors and gyms to try. I needed a plan before going insane.
On the tip of a friend working in higher education, I called local colleges for community member pricing. One-third the cost! And plenty of amazing hours allowing me to workout almost whenever and wherever. Thank you college kids for your crazy non-traditional schedules. The drive isn’t relatively far and near the closest tiny co-op market we have.

My new gym has Zumba & kickboxing and I found a local instructor for the days it’s not offered. Quite a nice balance and saves me some money. Even better the addition of kickboxing is forcing me to step it up.

It was a pain with all the work I’ve put into creating a schedule but I’m actually excited about my workout future. It’s here so I better own up to it and enjoy. I only want To use this in case of emergency or MAJOR snowstorm.
