Odd Job Skills

My job description says pastor, administrator, and anything else that needs to get done.  Yep that about sums it up.  No two days are the same and I like it that way.  I knew in High School I didn’t want a job where I did the same day after day.  Oh boy is that ever the case.

Our previous appointment was busy and I could run around all day doing my job and loved it.  Now I’m in a new and I could say the same but I’ve been putting some of my unique skills to work.

Build a Facebook page for the church…sure I can do that.  I can even take good photos with my point and shoot camera and post content at times the followers will most likely see them.  Heck I can even find a great app that will allow me to preschedule important posts so I’m not tied to my desk.

Looking for new crafts to do with our kids group each week…I created a Pintrest board to Keep Work Fun.  Who doesn’t want to turn the hallway into a Spiderman Obstacle course and teach on overcoming challenges or blow bubbles to teach about self control.

Flyers and posters are needed for each new activity we are advertising.  But my budget brain does not want to pay a designer when that money could be used for something else.  Coding and design are random skills blogging has taught me pushing my job above and beyond.

I may be a jack Jill of all trades and master of none.  But being the master of one thing would mean a lot of time in one place doing one thing.  I’ll stick to be the Queen of Odd job skills.

Last Week’s Goals

  • Ace the Budget. It’s so fun to see where I’m at with my budget.  We had a few extra expenses to get paperwork completed.  But at least I know where they fit.  I just have to remember to insert them each day.
  • Finish my paperwork.  Isn’t it so fun when a major telephone line is cut and no one can do any work.  I somehow got m driver’s license…but poor Hunni’s wouldn’t go through.  He’s back to the DMV on Monday. Winking smile
  • Itchy Scratchy.  Oh boy.  So going into anaphylaxis after routine allergy shots early this spring was not a good thing.  Effectively it means no doctor will give me shots because the risk is too great.  And the worst part is the year and a half of shots was barely worth it.  Now I just keep up the medications and avoid my allergens.  I’ll do my best because there are so many.
  • Work out with friends. I’m making friends…slowly.  It’s been nice to get away from the office to workout and chat with “real” people.  This week I’m going to work on other places to make friends.
  • Clean out the donations.  Uh no.  They’re still there.  I’ve enlisted Hunni to take them away soon.  Soon as in this week.

This Week’s Goals

  • Girls’ Night.  I have two days of meetings in Syracuse this week.  Instead of driving all the way home between them and really early on the way back I’m staying with one of my best friends from college.  It will be nice to just catch up.  We’ve not lived in the same area in years.
  • Book club, knitting group, or ?  I love Zumba but want to make friends in some other ways too.  I’m going to check the library and other places for listings of groups I can try out.  It’s hard to find groups because every time I Google or use a website I’ve given Canadian groups.  I guess I really do live near Canada.
  • Fitbloggin prep.  I know there is 44 days left but so many of those are packed with work and travel.  I’m starting now to pack what I can and prep with friends.  I’m so excited for another fun year so I can’t wait to be in Baltimore.  I’m looking forward to the discussion Monica & I are facilitating as well.
  • Keep health up front.  Crazy weeks usually lead to crazy eating and crazy workout schedules.  Instead I’ve got meals planned and workouts schedule.  Prior proper planning and all.
  • Rest.  A must…this has been an insane month.  I’m enjoying some rest this week when I can.  Naps can be good…scratch that…they are good.
