Over and Over

Our small town barber has the same magazines every time we pass by.  We’re talking magazines from several  summers ago…i.e. 2009. I can read about Brittney’s meltdown or her comeback and Avatar as the new summer blockbusters.  Even though they are the same each time Hunni gets his haircut, I keep reading for lack of other material.

It feels the same with the gym at times. When I go to the traditional gym I do the same workouts over and over.  The ones I memorized from old trainers, wrote on my post-its or the preprogramed elliptical or treadmill workouts or just swimming lap after lap out of habit.  I am a robot…

Then I thought about it.  Why couldn’t I bring something to the gym like I had started bringing my book to appointments.  Really…why?

Of course I take classes like Zumba and Boot Camp but sometimes I just needed a workout when it fit my schedule instead of fitting into the gym schedule.

So I searched some out.  I pulled workouts out of my old fitness magazines to mix it up.  I wrote down several different workout from a book.  I use the Nike Fitness app.  These are all something different to do instead of being stuck on a treadmill going nowhere.

Blogs, websites and friends are other fabulous resources.  Many people use DVD’s and some basic equipment at home.  I’m no exception.  I moved my pink room gym to our new house and will be setting it up.

Recently I found some good workouts On Demand to do in my new basement and The Lean Machines on YouTube.  These trainers provide great workouts I can do at home or at the gym.

I can’t afford to get bored with workouts because they are my best stress relief.  Changing it up is key to keeping the smile on my face.
