Smiles Come to Town

The biggest smiles came to visit last week.  Oh that would be my cousins…and Momma.

So nice to see familiar faces in our house.  The giggles and Justin Bieber chatter and silly comments were a nice relaxing point from stress of adjusting to a new job.  Can’t help but smile when a kid uses Hunni as a pillow.

Kids are crazy tiring but at the same time the best mode to check your priorities.  The made me come home from the office last week when I could have worked for another 3 hours.

Can they come back now?

Last Week’s Goals

  • Drive-in time. Uh, a big thunder storm and almost tornado derailed this plan.  But we did go to the theatre and see Spiderman.  So fun.  The girls loved it and so did Hunni.  He enjoyed explaining the different incarnations of Spiderman to a house full of women.
  • I like to Zumba. I am so happy Momma was here.  Tuesday no power = no Zumba.  Wednesday was movie day. So Thursday Momma and I made a priority to dance.  She enjoyed the class even in the sweltering heat.  Didn’t I move to Canada, almost?  Why is it so hot?
  • Grocery Shop.  I had groceries…and menu plans…and kids to feed.  It all worked.  And we had fun.  Now to remember doing this as an adult with Hunni.
  • Organize my brain.  Work in progress.  But at least I can find things a bit more easily.  That’s a good things because so much of it was lost and wasting precious time for the first 2 weeks.  More organizing to come.
  • Menu planning.  I have a craft to make a menu board pinned on Pintrest.  But I don’t have free time pinned on there.  For now I bought a dollar store white board calendar to fill in.  It works and we had meals.  It was easy to fill in and change things up.  Now to keep it up.  I feel like I’ve been saying that a lot.

This Week’s Goals

  • Eat lunch on time.  Adjusting to a new office schedule is hard and I’ve been eating lunch at wonky times…like 4pm.  I’m not used to packing my lunch.  That changes this week.  Lunches are planned and chef Hunni has offered to help.  This should be interesting but at least I won’t be starving by the time I get out of the office.
  • Doctor Search.  I slacked on this in my pre-planning.  Big oops.  Now I’m spending one of my lunch breaks calling doctors to set up preliminary appointments…and even the dentist.  I need to be my own advocate for my health.
  • Fun day, some day.  I need a day off this week.  Momma was so nice to pick up a TON of brochures of fun things to do in the area.  Now time to explore one of them on a date with Hunni.  We need a break.
  • Set a KINDA schedule.  We’re still so new in this appointment it’s hard to tell which ways is up.  But we need a bit more schedule to build normalcy around.  I’m pulling out my trusty Google Calendar and planning a basic schedule.  I may blow it all but having a guide will be a nice start to figuring this out.
  • Food!  Yes I already mentioned lunches but buying food is going to be interesting.  We have less selection nearby for shopping so I’m looking at websites for ordering some of my allergen friendly things and placing and order…soon.
  • Work out the stress. This is one area I’ve been fairly regular with since arriving.  Now to keep it up.  I’m sticking with fitness as a stress reliever right now…it’s a necessity.
