Random Fact in My Head

My brain is a sponge.  I listen to a song one and can sing it from memory…in fact I still remember the show piece from my 2nd grade choir concert.  I learn names of medicines and medical conditions after reading or watching TLC which can lead to spending far to much time on WebMD.

This skill can be a big advantage when it comes to studying for tests…oh and Trivial Pursuit…but keeps me up at night with some of the randomness I keep stored in my grey matter.

Die Fledermous is German for bat.  Literally meaning flying mouse.  But Batman is still Batman.  Might be too difficult to say Die Fledermous Mann.

Curry powder is not a spice.  It’s a combination of many other spices and everyone makes it differently.  I love the English for reminding us of this with their many days of curry take-away dinners.

The human digestive track has 5 sphinctersThank you finals studying and LOTS of coffee for this bit of knowledge.  I wasn’t even taking Human Nutrition.

You can get a free Krispy Kreme when the Hot Donuts Light is on (at least the last time I lived near one). My college friends and I abused this. We often had a full 15 passenger van when the light would go on. A dozen hot donuts to go, please.

Pizza is no more Italian than French fries are French.  Yet the best pizza I had was in a whole in the wall restaurant in Rome, Italy.

First guy to run a marathon died yet millions do it all the time.  I waffle back and forth on my desire.  Right now I’m on the no thank you side.

The Anchor Bar in Buffalo, NY is the home of the original Buffalo wing…yet they weren’t intended to be on the menuThank God for accidental menu items so we could eat piles of them in college.  I even had a job making them at a snack shop and will never eat them again.  Don’t ask.

High thread count sheets really are worth it.  More thread per square inch = super soft and better sleep.  But let’s be real…anything over 800 thread count leave to the Hotels.  It’s stealing money from your pocket.

When you learn a second language after grade 5 it is stored in a different part of the brain.  Also speech and understanding are two separate places.  Explains brain patients who can only speak their native (or secondary) language.  And those who understand completely but cannot speak back.  Fascinates me.Yeah foreign language education major!

Is it any wonder I can’t get to sleep some nights with this running around my brain.
