Bloggers all have their preferred methods when it comes to writing and publishing. Windows Live Writer, Ecto, directly in WordPress and some brave souls writing in HTML.

Most of us are comfortable on our home computer or laptop for putting together regular posts. But what about the times when it’s just you and your phone in the wild?

You have three options…

  • No posting for a mini break.
  • Emailing a post if you’ve previously set up the option in WordPress.
  • Using the WordPress App on your smart phone. It’s not just for drafts.
  • If you are going to post from the app there are a few simple tricks I’ve learned.

First, know what pictures you are going to use and the order. This is different that a traditional blogging software with drag and drop capabilities.

Write your first bit of text before adding the photo. You will have the option to use a photo in the library on your phone or take a new photo. The first is almost always easier.

After the photo has uploaded select the photo & tap the arrow in the bottom right for a choice of size. Take into consideration your theme and post width.

Then the crutial bit, place the picture after the text unless you want it at the top of you post. *Note: My intentional error at the top…twice.

Repeat the process above. Writing paragraphs and adding photos after the text before moving on to the the next section.

Finally when publishing either choose to publish immediately or set for a future date. This is done in the settings sprocket on the bottom. A preview is also available fr here.

It takes a bit of work like blogging from WordPress & a teeny bit of HTML if you desire. But it all works out when your laptop isn’t around.
