From Zero to Sixty

I challenged myself maintain workouts through November and December by putting my money where my mouth is

I’ll be frank…I knew something would give me an excuse to skip, but it was quite the opposite.  I loved the extra energy, seeing real people, and the amazing changes I’ve seen in my body.

But now it’s January and I’m craving another challenge.  I thrive on goals.  Inspired by Cassie’s All About the Number’s Challenge I created my own fitness challenge on Christmas Day.

The first sixty days of the year bring a lot of schedule regularity and a fair bit of crazy January and February (thanks to the leap year) make a perfect 60 days to rediscover what works and challenge me.

The Goals

  1. Pack away the scale (no peaking).  The number hasn’t changed in 2 months but my clothes are too big.  The scale is being mean and needs to go in the closet.
  2. 2 minute plank.  My back is missing the core strength and I miss this awesome skill.
  3. 500 minutes purposeful yoga/stretching.  A great reason to try the free community yoga class on Sunday evenings and use my yoga downloads.
  4. Write down all food intake.  Not calorie counting or points tracking because they became obsessions…but writing the actual foods.  Seeing it in writing will help keep me accountable.
  5. 500 minutes of strength.  *edited for error*This is approximately the number of minutes needed to complete The New Rules of Lifting for Women
workouts for the November & December.
  6. 2000 cardio minutes.  Zumba to hiking to walking to Wii to sooooooo more.
  7. 160/180 meals prepared at home.  Goes along with my vague goals and takes into account work days.  So I’m ready!
  8. Email or real mail 3 encouragements to friends weekly.  I appreciate encouragement and want to return the favor.
  9. Make a fitness inspiration board.  I have quotes, photos, and articles cute out for inspiration but they are in a folder.  I’ll put my crafty skills to good use and make an inspiration board.

The Reward

With the exception of my new Christmas reward…My fitness clothing is old. For completing this challenge I will replace up to $150 of my old workout gear.  My bargain skill are in overdrive now looking for deals.

The Recording

The lovely Laura is hosting her Back to Fitness in 2012.  I’ll be posting my goals on there and continuing into February as well.

What fitness goals are you setting?

    These are some great goals!
I’m afraid mine aren’t quite so ambitious. Since I am just starting out, my biggest goal is to simply take a walk every day.

Good luck with achieving your goals! Consistency is my main focus right now. I organized an accountability group/ 8-week weight loss challenge with a group of friends. This group will help keep me accountable with working out (since we’ll meet together 2-3 times a week to walk or do some other activity). There’s also a cash incentive at the end of challenge for whoever loses the most weight. I think the competition will keep things fun and will help me stay consistent with working out and eating better.

Fabulous goals. Yes I totally get the food journal it’s a practice that I have done for years. It just gives le sanity without the focus of the points, calories, etc. it’s more here is what I ate, etc.

I think I’m going to join you in the 2minute plank. Thank you for the inspiration
