Hunni and I don’t agree on many TV channels – shows, yes; channels, no.  Yet we found harmony watching Comedy Central specials.  It’s been a part of our weekend schedule since our dating days.  We include our favorite jokes in everyday conversation and retell our favorite bits just to laugh.

When I created my 101 things in 1001 days I included Hunni friendly activities we could enjoy together.  #95 was one of our favorites: See a live comedy show. 

When we lived outside NYC for seminary we wanted to see a comedy show.  As the Upright Citizen’s Brigade put it we wanted to “see comedy in a dark basement in the city.” It didn’t happen during our two years of seminary so last year we bought tickets to see Rory Scovel at Mass MoCA. 

It was a sleety, snowy night in February and Hunni was sicky sick.  He was a trooper and tried to go out to the show…but it looked like we were the only ones.  He was so miserable we came home before the show start to watch Comedy Central instead. 

We’ve wanted to see another show since then but it just hasn’t fit our time or budget.  Then All Over Albany posted about the Upright Citizens Brigade coming to Mass MoCA.  Inexpensive tickets, local venue and fantastic comedy. 

Oh yes…The Upright Citizens Brigade turned out some of our favorite comedians to date.  Amy Pohler, Conan O’Brian, Aziz Ansari and Janeane Garafalo; Sounds like a good night of fun.  Conan promised it would be. 

It was an excuse dress up and go out…oh and laugh our hineys off.  Now we have so many more bits to say.  The comedy was improv based off the contents of an audience members wallet…although I don’t think he understood that when he went on stage.

His poor girlfriend but all the info he gave the group has us laugh as we drive past Berkshire Bank [“We Make It Hard” ], talk about working with kids [“I inspire them to inspire themselves.” ] or craft beer [“Ball Brew” ].

Oh my…I don’t think I’ve laughed that hard in a long time.  We may have to visit them in their “dark basement in the city” for some more laughs.
