Working out is part of my day, almost everyday. More than half my wardrobe is workout gear. I actually prefer to shopping for fitness clothes to other clothing. No matching, seasonal traditions or following Tim Gunn’s rules…although I think he’d have a few things to say about some items.

Bargain hunting allows me more selection and fun…even better I can dress the part. I’m not just a runner or Zumba fanatic or strength trainer or yogini. Each activity gives me a chance to play dress up…work out style.
Yoga Girl
I’m inflexible but working on it. Darn metal in my back makes it a challenge but I can look the part. Yoga capris and tank top or wicking t-shirt. No matter how easy the class or podcast I sweat like a fiend. The headband keeps my hair out of my eyes in downward dog but not the sweat. If someone invents that I’ll pay a million dollars (or the change in my pocket).

Okay I can be a bit of a dork when it comes to running. Well a big dork. I’m just happy to be running. But for typical running I’m in running leggings and a wicking top. Now a-days I’m braced to the hilt (calf, back and ankle) so the clothes need to be simple and ready to go.

Zumba is putting my high school dance skills to work. Or at least my memories of FAME and Flash Dance. I don’t have the dance skills but it’s full of fun. My basic pants and wicking tanks are transformed by chopping up old or thrifted t-shirts. The brighter the color the better.

Lifting is the work out that gets the rest done. I need clothes need not too loose but not too tight clothes – I sound like the 3 bears – and my hair HAS to be out of my face. Old comfy workout pants, loose tech t-shirts and bandana do the trick. Strong, powerful and in the zone while doing dead lifts, single leg squats and chest presses. I focus on the strength of my body and not the boys in the weight room.
How do you change your workout gear?
