I didn’t own a cell phone of my own until I was 22. I was cool like that. My church kids own one at 8! Oh, my… Even worse they – along with the rest of the world – own SMART PHONES.
Oh the smart phone. The bane of my existence. I just bought Grimace and really like him, yet feel out of the loop. To soothe my desire I came up with:
Top 5 Reasons NOT to get a Smart Phone
- The App store would own my paycheck. Bed, Bath and Beyond did when I worked there in college. I already know the apps I’d want.
- It would help me connect with friends through twitter, Facebook, e-mail, DailyMile and more…it would give me 24/7 connections to work and them to me. I’m a work-a-holic and already have trouble tuning out.
- I’m a bad typist without a little keyboard. Add in the size of a Blackberry keypad or iPhone touch screen and my tweets would look like this….I cazuthoiagh eblieves howe happyw I ammmm> [translation: I can’t believe how happy I am] Looks more like I’m drunk.
- I don’t want to spend my life like this.

- I prefer time with the snuggie/Hunni and the puppers and my pillow instead of sleeping with twitter…ugh that sounds creepy.
I’m smart but some day the smart phone may be smarter than me…quite frankly this is the biggest thing that scares me.

I own one
I adore mine
Id be lost without it (good GOSH it helped me feel less isolated when my girl was little little) yet more and more Im turning it off during the day.

It’s on my list of things to think of getting because I love the idea of not feeling isolated in my little town and using while traveling. But it’s so darn addicting.
i love my iphone, but dang, sometimes i have to make a really big effort to put the thing down.

That’s my fear. I see others have a hard time putting them down and I don’t want to “have” to pick it up every time it bings.
I got one on Monday
I’m not allowing myself to use it to go online from home (we have a computer for that!). Also, I’m clumsy, and I don’t think I can surf and walk at the same time. And I turned off the “binging”, so I don’t know when I have new emails/tweets. So far, so good.
