My Butt, My Thighs

I’m a sucker for good marketing.  I may not buy everything but a good commercial draws my attention.  I can’t wait for the ads during tomorrow’s Super Bowl…and the game I guess.

But the [good] ads are where my heart lives.  Perhaps this explains my favorite quote,

You have a choice.  You can throw in the towel, or use it to wipe the sweat off your face.

~Gatorade Ad

Yes, my favorite quote is a Gatorade ad.  A great reminder to be strong because I am.  I also love the Nike ads that remind me to Just Do It!  Excuses, Excuses, Excuses…my body will thank me later if I Just [get out there and] Do It!

In 2005 Nike produced a set of controversial ads for women athletes that I absolutely lovemy butt

Why yes, I have a boot-ay.  In my quest to be strong my butt has taken it to heart.  My first set of lunges and squats hurt like heck. I knew my butt was there for several days after as I swore up and down each step in my apartment building. It didn’t stop me…and I’ve been proud ever since.  I don’t have the typical behind and I wear it proudly as my evidence that my butt is in the gym working hard.

my knees

I was the tomboy little girl, forever falling out of trees and chasing the boys down the street.  To Hunni the scars are proof I love a hiking date just as much as a nice dinner.  Our four old knees will grow old together as we add new scars from adventures.

my shoulders

No I’m not an 80’s woman in a power suit…these shoulders are real.  I bust my butt, or more importantly my shoulders, to do every chaturanga, plank and shoulder press.  These should were built to be mine…all mine.

my thighs

I have thunder thighs and strong calves.  They are my most prized feature.  Skinny jeans aren’t made for girls like me and it has nothing to do with my weight.  It’s because my legs are not proportionate to my waist and that’s okay.  My thighs and calves carry me on fantastic runs I was told I could never do.  I’m happy to prove them wrong and keep doing so.

Don’t ask if you can..Just do it!

Be proud of the body you have and are creating with regular health and exercise.  You aren’t a mannequin and that’s fine..be you, all of you!
